We are delighted to welcome former Irish Sprint Hurdler, World Indoor Champion, multiple European Medallist and three time Irish Olympian Derval O’Rourke to the Taste of Monaghan 2014 programme.
World class athlete Derval puts her experience to good use by writing, cooking and sharing her knowledge – mainly about sport and about a healthy lifestyle. We look forward to The Taste of Monaghan Launch of Derval’s new Cook Book “Food for the Fast Lane” at Taste of Monaghan 2014. Derval will be signing her book at Taste of Monaghan as well as hosting a very interesting and no doubt lively Q+A session.
Brian McDermott – No Salt Chef
We are delighted to welcome Taste of Monaghan friend, TV/radio personality and Stop Food Waste Ambassador – Brian McDermott – The No Salt Chef – back to our 2014 Festival of Food.
One of Ireland’s most accomplished and innovative chefs, Brian initially became interested in cooking without salt for health reasons. He soon discovered the many taste benefits of salt free cooking.
Brian will host the demonstration events in the Taste of Monaghan marquee and well as treating us to an excellent demonstrations himself. Looking forward to that – Brian is a great chef and communicator!

Chef to Saudi Princes, Russian Oligarchs and Co-owner/Chef at the multi-award winning Gannet restaurant, Glasgow.
Peter started his cooking career as a teenager in the Hillgrove Hotel and Mediterraneo Restaurant, Monaghan. He then went on to work in Holland, London and Sydney. Later he was appointed chef to a Saudi prince and a Russian oligarch.
Peter is now co-owner of and Chef at The Gannet – an award winning Scottish independent restaurant and bar in the vibrant Finnieston neighbourhood of Glasgow
The Gannet opened in October 2013, and to date has won Best Newcomer Restaurant in the Chefs in Scotland Excellence Awards 2014, Best Newcomer in The List Eating and Drinking Awards 2014 and an AA Rosette Award. The Gannet has also received glowing reviews in The Guardian, The Sunday Herald and The Scotsman.

Marrying culinary and butchering skills, Adrian Martin trained with and worked under Neven Maguire for six years. Adrian is a font of knowledge on how to chose, prepare, store and cook a range meats to enjoy them to the full. Expect knowledge, expertise and interaction at Adrian’s demo in the Taste of Monaghan marquee.
Paul Callaghan Aka Calso Cooks
Paul is a plasterer by trade but in the recession his business ended and he had to adapt to change. So Paul started growing his own fruit and vegetables in his own garden. This new hobby brought a new passion for cooking and baking.
Paul also created www.thesustainablelarder.blogspot.ie. Paul’s blog attracted the attention of the media and he now has weekly slots with Clare FM and 2FM on the “Breakfast with Hector” show. In January 2014 Paul released his debut cookbook ‘Calso Cooks: Real Food Made Easy and has since made a number of TV appearances.
So if you are interested in growing your own, cooking and baking make sure you catch Paul’s cookery demonstration at Taste of Monaghan 2014 – definitely one not to miss.

Wife, mother and amazingly talented chef, Jancinta got right through to the finals of RTE’s extraordinarily demanding Masterchef competition in 2012.
Janinta treated us to a great cookery demo at Taste of Monaghan 2013 and we look forward to savouring her culinary talents again this year. No doubt, a few surprises in store!
